Today, history has been made. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has unanimously endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as its sole presidential candidate for the 2026 general elections. This momentous decision did not come by chance it is the culmination of relentless grassroots mobilization, unwavering loyalty, and the bold leadership of one woman: Hajat Hadijah Namyalo, the Head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) and Chief Mobilizer of the Bazzukulu.

The Backstory. A Plot to Force Museveni Out

Immediately after the 2021 elections, a dangerous narrative began circulating not from the opposition, but from within NRM’s own ranks. Some within the party, including high ranking officials and even those close to the President, began pushing the idea that Museveni’s time was up. They claimed that the party’s losses in Buganda and Busoga were a sign that he should retire.

This was not just political analysis it was a well orchestrated scheme by power hungry elements who sought to force a transition, not because Museveni had failed, but because they wanted to take over. At a time when the President was focused on rebuilding the economy post-COVID-19 and consolidating national stability, these forces were busy planting seeds of doubt.

The Rise of Namyalo and the “Tova Ku Main” Revolution

Amidst this political storm, one woman stood firm Hajat Hadijah Namyalo. While others whispered behind closed doors, she took to the streets, rallying the youth and the masses under the now famous slogan. “Tova Ku Main”

Many underestimated her. The political mafias within NRM thought she was just another appointee who would fade away. But Namyalo proved them wrong. With minimal resources but maximum determination, she traversed the country, reigniting the NRM spirit among the youth. She made it fashionable again to wear yellow in places like Kiseka Market a place once considered hostile to NRM.

Museveni’s Own Words Confirm Namyalo’s Impact

Saturday, as President Museveni accepted his nomination, he publicly acknowledged the role of the Bazzukulu and Namyalo’s mobilization efforts. “The Bazzukulu said Tova Ku Main, and I decided to come back,” he declared.

These words are not just a passing remark they are a testament to the power of grassroots mobilization and the loyalty of Ugandans who still believe in their leader.

A Hero Deserving of National Recognition

Namyalo’s work has not been easy. She has faced resistance, sabotage, and even open hostility from those whose selfish agendas she disrupted. Yet, she remained steadfast, proving that true leadership is about conviction, not convenience.

Today, as NRM celebrates Museveni’s sole candidacy, we must also celebrate Namyalo a fearless mobilizer, a unifier, and a true hero of this movement. She didn’t just save Museveni from a forced retirement; she saved NRM from internal disintegration and set the stage for another historic victory in 2026.

The Journey Ahead

While Saturday’s nomination is a milestone, the work is not yet done. Namyalo and the entire NRM fraternity must now double their efforts to ensure a resounding victory in 2026. The opposition will throw everything they have, but with a united NRM and a motivated grassroots base, victory is certain.

Congratulations, President Museveni!
Congratulations, Hajat Hadijah Namyalo!
