Cameron Norrie suffered a gruelling defeat to Reilly Opelka in the last 16 of the ATP Tour’s Dallas Open, where Taylor Fritz was among the seeds to crash out on Thursday.
Norrie squandered a one-set advantage in a back-and-forth contest against the American wildcard, falling to a 4-6 7-6 (5) 6-4 loss after just over two and a half hours.

World No 3 and top seed Alcaraz needed just over an hour to defeat Italian doubles specialist Vavassori 6-2 6-1 and continue his hunt for a first indoor trophy, having needed three sets against home wildcard Botic van de Zandschulp in the previous round.
"Every time that I leave the court, I'm always thinking how I can be better," Alcaraz said. "I just tried to be focused on the things that I had to improve from the first round - not making too many mistakes, not having too many ups and downs in the match, if I'm a break up, just to keep going with the same intensity."
